Located 19 miles southeast of Phoenix, the city of Chandler, Arizona, might be close enough to the state's capital to count as a suburb, but remains as a community with a distinct history and unique identity. In the last two decades, the population of Chandler has exploded as the town has become one of the foremost tech hubs of the U.S. Students will find that Chandler is home to a vibrant arts scene, a diverse population, and an economy that spans high-tech companies, educational institutions, and hospitality services. Northern Arizona University, based in Flagstaff, also operates an extension campus in Chandler, run out of Jacaranda Hall at Chandler-Gilbert Community College. The NAU extension offers in-person and blended traditional and online courses. Its 18 degree programs include business administration and technology management. 

Vocational and Trade Schools in Chandler

Empire Beauty School offers programs in cosmetology, cosmetology education, aesthetics and makeup artistry. In addition, Chandler-Gilbert Community College serves more than 19,000 students each year, according to its website. It offers certificates and associate degrees in a variety of subjects, with strong programs in aviation and business/computing studies.

Schools in the Greater Chandler Area

U.S. News & World Report lists 17 colleges or universities within a 30-mile radius of central Chandler. These include the main ASU campus in Tempe and many schools in Phoenix, including Arizona Christian University, and Grand Canyon University. American Indian College of the Assemblies of God, in Phoenix, is the only accredited Pentecostal college with a focus on Native Americans, according to its website. Aspiring architects might consider the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture in Scottsdale, while those who want to enter the aerospace industry can investigate the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott.
